The quake had a measured magnitude of 6.0 and occurred about 100 km southwest of the port city of Bandar Abbas, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
Just a few minutes before, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 was measured.
The three victims were found in landslides in a village near the epicenter of the quake, according to a representative of the village's Islamic Council, according to IRNA.
The USGS estimates that the probability of major damage is small.
