According to the Al-Ikhbariya TV channel, he said this when he arrived on an official visit to Syria to hold talks with his Syrian counterpart Faisal Mikdad, as well as the country's President Bashar al-Assad.

“We see our task in preventing the emergence of a crisis and trying to move towards peace, stability and security, overcoming the existing differences between the two states that maintain close ties with Iran,” TASS quoted him as saying.

As Abdollahian stressed, Tehran understands Turkey's concerns and fears about the situation in northern Syria, but opposes the Turkish military operation.

Earlier, Abdollahian stated that the Iranian side is counting on holding a trilateral Russia-Iran-Turkey summit on Syria.
