The marketing phase for the planned fiber optic network in the Münzenberg, Rockenberg and Wölfersheim ends in mid-July.

Until then, private households and businesses still have the opportunity to secure a free fiber optic house connection.

Since April 1 of this year, the GVG fiber group has been offering the construction of a pure fiber optic network in the three municipalities.

"Around 10,000 households and companies are now being asked to make a decision quickly," advertise the municipalities.

For all those who decide later, there were planning and construction costs.

"We are on the right track and assume that we will be able to achieve the necessary expansion rate with the help of the citizens," said the Wölfersheim town hall.

The project could still fail, but based on the current figures the executing company is optimistic that there will be enough households.

No planning or completion costs to pay

From Wölfersheim it is also said that all households that opt for a fiber optic connection do not have to bear either the planning costs or the expenses for establishing the fiber optic connection.

In addition, GVG assumes the costs for civil engineering work from the property line if this is no further than 15 meters from the front of the building.

Fiber optics can also be laid underground in almost all cases.

In Wölfersheim itself, it is planned that all of the community's properties, i.e. town houses, sports halls, kindergartens, residential properties and similar, should be connected to the fiber optic network.

In the end, a total of 40 percent of households across all three municipalities have to decide in favor of a house connection so that the expansion is economical.

The GVG was unable to find out how many citizens had already signed.

The press office says: "Experience has shown that we conclude a particularly large number of contracts in this final stage of the project." This can also be seen in the municipalities in the Wetterau.

After the end of marketing, a flat-rate planning fee of 350 euros will be charged for a connection.
