The West is "tired" of the situation around Ukraine in the context of the recession of national economies and the energy crisis.

Politico writes about this, referring to the words of Estonian Prime Minister Kai Kallas.

On the sidelines of the NATO summit in Madrid, she told reporters that "war weariness is setting in everywhere."

“This has been going on for four months.

There is high inflation and an energy crisis.

The coronavirus is not going anywhere.

So the situation is becoming more and more complicated, ”Kallas quotes the publication.

Consensus

Recall that earlier, one of the main beneficiaries of the Kyiv regime, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, also spoke about the prospect of fatigue from the Ukrainian problem.

“If you look at things realistically, (you can expect that. -

) people and politicians will get tired (support Ukraine. -

),” Johnson said on the sidelines of the G7 summit held at the end of June.

The British Prime Minister stressed that the almost complete unanimity on the Ukrainian issue that has developed among Western countries and their allies may be shaken.

“I think that pressure and anxiety (already. -

RT

) are taking place, we should be honest about this.

In order to maintain this unity and make it effective, we need to be really honest about the consequences of what is happening, about the pressure that individual friends and partners feel, as well as the population of countries: whether it is related to the cost of energy resources, food or something else. Boris Johnson said.

Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde expressed a similar opinion on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Madrid.

“You can already see from the media that interest (in Ukraine. -

RT

) is declining, and this affects the public, and the public influences politicians.

Therefore, our duty is not to let what is happening in Ukraine and what Russia is doing fade into the background.

We have seen this many times: there is some kind of catastrophe, a war, and it continues, but it is slipping out of sight, ”said the Swedish politician.

At the same time, US President Joe Biden, answering a question from journalists about how long the support of Ukraine by Western countries will last, announced its virtually indefinite nature.

“We will support Ukraine, and the entire alliance will support Ukraine for as long as it takes to make sure that it is not defeated by ... Russia,” Biden said.

Recall that the White House administration continues to regularly allocate multimillion-dollar packages of military assistance to the Kyiv regime, pumping up Ukraine with weapons and military equipment.

According to Biden, since he took office, Washington has "provided almost $7 billion worth of defense funds to Ukraine."

Civil disobedience

Despite Biden's categorical statement that support for Ukraine will continue "for as long as it takes," not all US citizens share their president's position.

Politico also reports this, citing data from a public opinion poll conducted by the sociological company YouGov from June 23 to 29.

According to a poll of 1,000 Americans, only 8% believe that ensuring Russia's defeat in Ukraine is a priority for Joe Biden and his administration.

According to the majority of respondents (38%), the president's first priority should be to reduce or eradicate inflation in the country.

Dissatisfaction with the Ukrainian issue is beginning to manifest itself in other countries.

So, in Poland, free travel on the trains of the country's largest carrier Intercity and in public transport was canceled for Ukrainian refugees.

In addition, Ukrainians who have been in Poland for more than 120 days have lost benefits, and the program of financial support for Poles who have sheltered Ukrainians has been terminated.

On July 1, a video of a protest rally in Warsaw appeared on social networks, the participants of which expressed dissatisfaction with the influx of refugees from a neighboring state, chanting: “Poland is here, not Ukraine!”

The drop in the world community's interest in the situation in Ukraine was also recognized by the leader of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky.

At a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, he said that European attention to this topic is waning and needs to be supported.

Zelensky added that after Ukraine, Russia would allegedly transfer hostilities to Europe.

“Therefore, it is very important that interest does not subside - sorry that I use this (word. -

RT

) - to the war.

Only we, the leaders of states, the media can do this,” he said.

Zone of influence

Vladimir Bruter, an expert at the International Institute for Humanitarian and Political Studies, in an interview with RT noted that different countries have different attitudes towards the issue of Ukraine, but in any case, the leaders of the collective West will not be interested in the opinion of their citizens on this matter.

“They have no choice, no one will ask them and no one will ask.

All this hype will continue until Washington decides otherwise.

And in Washington, as we see, there is no progress in this part, despite a number of serious internal problems, ”the political scientist noted.

At the same time, the attitude towards the issue of Ukraine in the United States will not change even with the potential coming to power of another political force, Vladimir Bruter believes.

“Decisions on these issues are made in the State Department, and these specific people do not care what will happen to Biden, what will happen to the elections and the American economy.

They will put as much pressure on this subject as they deem necessary, and no alternative course of action is foreseen in Washington and NATO.

Even if they cannot win and inflict a military defeat on Russia in Ukraine, they will try to delay this process as long as possible, ”the expert emphasized.

In turn, Konstantin Blokhin, a researcher at the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, believes that some Western leaders and politicians are coming to the realization that, under US pressure, Ukraine has turned into a black hole that absorbs weapons and funding.

“Ukraine has become an extremely ineffective tool for containing Russia.

In fact, the West does not strengthen through the support of Kyiv, but, on the contrary, weakens, ”the expert emphasized.

“European leaders have already called on Ukraine to the negotiation process, even the influential geopolitician Henry Kissinger spoke about the need to normalize relations with Russia at a forum in Davos.

All this indicates that a certain understanding is coming: it was not possible to bankrupt Russia and inflict a strategic defeat on it in Ukraine, as Biden and his entourage wanted, ”said Blokhin.

Sooner or later, both Washington and its allies will have to realize what is happening and change their policy in this area, the analyst added.

“They wanted to do everything quickly, but this speed has disappeared somewhere, and now it is clear that the plan is starting to stagnate.

Statements by Western leaders about fatigue are associated with the lack of victories and achievements of Ukraine.

Its partners have not achieved success in this territory either, while Russia is slowly but surely increasing its zone of influence, ”concluded Blokhin.
