China News Service, Beijing, July 1 (Xie Yanbing) Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on July 1.

A reporter asked a question about British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's inappropriate remarks in the Sino-British Joint Declaration.

Zhao Lijian: China has repeatedly stated its position on the Sino-British Joint Declaration. Hong Kong is China's Hong Kong and no external force has the right to interfere.

The United Kingdom has no sovereignty, governance, or supervision over Hong Kong after its return, and there is no so-called commitment at all.

The British side's repeated use of the Sino-British Joint Declaration will only expose their dark and outdated colonial mentality and their sinister intention to smear Hong Kong's image in the name of human rights.

The British side should face up to the reality that Hong Kong has returned to the motherland 25 years ago, view Hong Kong's development in an objective and fair manner, respect China's sovereignty and unity, stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs, and stop causing trouble for China-UK relations.
