  The Hong Kong Science Park is the largest technology R&D and business incubation base in Hong Kong. It currently has more than 1,100 companies and more than 17,000 I&T practitioners, attracting many well-known domestic and foreign scientific research institutions and universities to set up laboratories.

In the exhibition hall of the Science Park, Xi Jinping listened to briefings on the development of innovation and technology in Hong Kong, the interaction of innovation and technology development in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and the development of Hong Kong Science Park, and watched the exhibition of representative innovation and technology enterprises in Hong Kong.

Xi Jinping pointed out that in recent years, with the support of the central government, Hong Kong has made use of its own advantages and has made remarkable achievements in basic research, talent training, and development of the innovation and technology industry.

The government of the special administrative region should grasp the general trend of the times, put support for the development of innovation and technology in a more prominent position, and further give full play to the supporting and leading role of scientific and technological innovation.

  Xi Jinping came to the Hong Kong Neurodegenerative Disease Center to listen to the achievements made by the center's research team in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease, and encouraged everyone to make persistent efforts, pursue excellence in overcoming difficulties, and create more scientific and technological achievements that lead the world trend.

  Afterwards, Xi Jinping had a cordial conversation with academicians of the two academies in Hong Kong, scientific researchers, and representatives of young innovation and technology enterprises.

He emphasized that the country attaches great importance to scientific and technological innovation work and deeply implements the innovation-driven development strategy.

The state has included support for Hong Kong in building an international innovation and technology center into the "14th Five-Year Plan" and has high expectations for Hong Kong.

It is hoped that Hong Kong will give full play to its own advantages, gather global innovation resources, and combine with the mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to strengthen the innovation synergy of industry, academia and research, and strive to build a global technological innovation highland.
