She and her Ukrainian friends Mariia Hirman and Liubov Sokol will be allowed to start working in elderly care, as soon as the municipality of Flen has been given the green light for compensation for start-up jobs.

A financial support that the Swedish Public Employment Service can provide to employers who employ new arrivals.

Great need in the summer

The Ukrainian refugees completed their language training at the beginning of the summer with the goal of working this summer when the need for elderly care is greatest.

Now it looks like it will take some more time because the municipality of Flen has applied for a new start job only this week.

And the processing time is at least three weeks.

- We want to contribute to society, says Raisa Tymofieieva who is a trained surgical nurse.

"Big difference"

She has previously worked in Saudi Arabia and says that after only three days there she started working.

In Sweden, she has soon gone for four months without employment in addition to the language course.

- It is a big difference.

I did not know the language there either, but I learned everything as I worked, she says and points out that she is also very grateful for the chance to work in elderly care long enough.

Helén Persson, head of department at the municipality of Flens, regrets that they are waiting to start working.

- At the same time, they have received this training effort, which is good.

We are ready and as soon as it is ready they are welcome.
