The investigation against the 16-year-old who stabbed two men on June 21 in central Västerås is still ongoing, but on Friday the police went out and clarified that there does not seem to be any connection between the 16-year-old and the victims who should have been selected at random.

"There are also no signs that the crimes were motivated by hatred or aggression against a specific ethnic group with a particular creed, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation or the like," the police wrote in a press release.

They also say that the men who were stabbed, one with life-threatening injuries and the other seriously, have been allowed to leave the hospital.

About 50 interrogations have been held and the 16-year-old has admitted the act, but what motive was behind the attack is still unclear according to the police.

The 16-year-old is on probable cause suspected of two cases of attempted murder, the higher degree of suspicion, and is still in custody.

He must also have admitted the act.

Due to his young age, the investigation must be handled urgently.
