Park Ji-hyeon, former chairman of the Democratic Party's emergency response committee, said Rep. Lee Jae-myung should not run for the August national convention.



This is the first time Park has publicly mentioned Lee's not running for office.



Former Chairman Park Ji-hyeon, who attended the 'Green Belt' event held at the National Assembly Hall in the afternoon of the 1st, said, "If Rep. Lee Jae-myung goes to this (party representative) election, people's livelihoods will disappear again." There is a concern that it will not happen,” he said, adding, “I am thinking that I should not run.”



He continued, "From the other side (government/passport), there is a picture of retaliation and we (Democratic Party) will be busy defending," he said. “, he added.



Regarding the '97th generation' within the party who recently announced their candidacy for party representatives, including Rep. Kang Byung-won and Park Yong-jin, former Chairman Park said, "I think I am very courageous and respectful for running for office in a situation where Lee has a high support."



Regarding his candidacy for party leader, Park said, "I am getting invitations from young people around me to run for office, but I have a lot of points to think about, such as whether I will be able to pass the cutoff, so the time to contemplate is getting longer."



He continued, "I'm worried about whether I can have a meaningful confrontation with Rep. Lee in the primary, so I've been thinking about it while listening to various stories.
