A man was sentenced to two years in prison, including one year suspended, by the Béziers criminal court.

On the night of June 21 to 22, he had stolen an Audi TT and luxury watches in Montpellier.

“The vehicle being geolocated in Béziers, a patrol from the anti-crime brigade of the Béziers police station found it and set up surveillance”, explains the public prosecutor Raphaël Balland.

During his arrest at the wheel of the vehicle, he was also carrying the keys to an Austin Mini stolen on the night of June 6 to June 7 in Béziers.

He had managed to escape from the police station while in police custody, before being caught a little further on in an adjacent street.

Four more months for the escape from the police station

Already sentenced 19 times, mainly for theft, he was sentenced for theft and driving without a license, with obligations to work and take care of himself.

The court also sentenced him to an additional four months in prison for the escape.
