The Iranian news agency quoted Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Majid Takht Ravanchi, as saying that Tehran acted seriously in the Doha talks, at a time when the European Union called for the need to conclude an agreement as soon as possible.

Rawangi described the Doha talks as positive, and confirmed that his country will be in contact with the European Union coordinator for the next round of talks.

The ambassador stated that Tehran had asked the United States for "objective and verifiable guarantees," and said that once the other parties fulfilled all their obligations in a full and effective manner, his country would immediately reverse all steps it took after Washington withdrew from the 2015 agreement.

In the same context, the head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad Eslami, said that the opposing party in the recent nuclear negotiations reopened the file of the military dimensions of the Iranian nuclear program again, despite the file's previous closure.

Islami added - in a speech - that he hopes the Iranian negotiating team, with its strong arguments regarding Tehran's nuclear activities, will be able to lift sanctions on Iran and put the country on the path of development, as he put it.

Eslami affirmed that the Iranian nuclear program has been proven to be peaceful to the International Atomic Energy Agency, despite what he called "the allegations of the Zionist entity."

As for the United States, it expressed - during a Security Council session on the nuclear agreement - its concern about recent steps taken by Iran, and said that they undermine the monitoring of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Richard Mills, the deputy US ambassador to the United Nations, said that a deal to return to the nuclear deal could only be struck if Iran waived demands that do not fall within the scope of the agreement.

Never cross the finish line

In turn, the European Union representative to the United Nations, Olof Skoog, expressed concern over the possibility of not reaching a deal to return to the nuclear agreement with Iran.

After more than a year of negotiations, Skoog said, it was necessary to conclude an agreement as soon as possible and begin implementing it.

European Union Foreign Policy Commissioner Josep Borrell also said that the nuclear deal with Iran must be concluded as soon as possible.

Borrell added - in a tweet - that after more than a year of negotiations, there is a risk that what he described as the finish line will not be crossed, and he called for the full implementation of the agreement.

The delegates of France, Britain and the European Union in the Security Council called on Iran to stop the escalation and return to full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.

And the three delegates urged - in a statement read by the delegate of France, Nicolas de Riviere - Tehran to agree to the offer that has been on the table since last March in order to return to the nuclear agreement in full.

For his part, Dmitry Polyansky, the Russian Deputy Representative to the United Nations, said that Washington's policy of putting pressure on Iran is the main cause of the current problems related to the nuclear deal.

Polyansky added that Moscow sincerely supports negotiations to resume implementation of the agreement within the agreed frameworks.

It is noteworthy that Iran announced that it is in contact with the European Union coordinator on the next stage of the nuclear talks.
