The country has been following the tribulations of rebel MPs from the Shiv Sena party for weeks.

They had been transported to Gujarat and then Assam, two BJP-ruled states where they had received 5-star treatment away from Bombay.

This Wednesday, June 29, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, resigned.

Son of the founder of the Hindu nationalist party, Shiv Sena, he had surprised by choosing in 2019 to ally with the Congress party, rather than the BJP to govern Maharastrah.

A decision that some, on the right wing of the party, had not all digested and on which the BJP had to play, among other things, to convince the deputies to join the camp of Narendra Modi.

The leader of the rebellious MPs, Eknath Shinde, therefore becomes the new chief minister of Maharashtra, assisted by Devendra Fadnavis, the state's former BJP chief minister.

Political Coup

 ”

Anand Pendharkar, environmental activist and resident of Bombay, is worried about the roadmap of this new government.

“

This political stunt goes against the people's mandate to their leaders and fills me with anger.

Barely hours after being elected, the new government announced that it would resume work on a metro in the Bombay natural park.

I think this is catastrophic news for the city

 ,” he said.

Don't project anger for me on Mumbaikars.

Don't change the proposal for the metro shed.
