Increased covid infection in Västmanland: "Are more people being cared for in hospital"

The omicron variant BA.5 seems to be a little more contagious than previous variants, but gives a milder disease.

According to the infection control doctor Daniel Heimer, it is difficult to say how much covid-19 is spreading in Västmanland right now because there are so few who are testing themselves.

- It is difficult to compare because we do not test in the same way.

But we are seeing an increase in cases now and a year ago it was relatively stable during the summer, Daniel Heimer explains.

The fourth dose 

According to Heimer, the fourth dose of the vaccine will be available to those over the age of 80 between August 20 and September 14.

The plan is for those over 65 to be able to get vaccinated between 15 September and 30 September.

Finally, the idea is that the fourth dose should be given to the rest of the population who are interested from the first of October.
