Demonstrators storm the headquarters of the Libyan parliament in Tobruk

Libyan media reported that demonstrators stormed the headquarters of the Libyan parliament in Tobruk, in the east of the country, on Friday, in protest against the deteriorating living conditions and the political crisis.

Several television stations reported that demonstrators entered the building and damaged it, and pictures published by it showed thick columns of black smoke rising from the building's perimeter after angry demonstrators burned tires.

Other media reported that part of the building was burned, knowing that it was empty when protesters entered it, as Friday is an official holiday in Libya.

The footage shows that a bulldozer driven by a demonstrator toppled a section of the gate of the building complex, making it easier for protesters to storm it.

The cars of members of the House of Representatives were also set on fire.

Other protesters, some of whom waved green flags of Muammar Gaddafi's regime, threw documents into the air after taking them from offices.

The demonstration came at a time when the country has been suffering from power outages for several days, exacerbated by the closure of many oil facilities.
