It was on Friday morning that the ambulance pulled out when they received an alarm about a case of illness.

Once on site, it was established that the child had died, according to the Bergslagen police, who write on their website that they were called to the scene "due to the fact that it is not possible to rule out crime in connection with the death".

- Out of respect for the care of those involved, we must bear in mind that it may have been an accident or natural death, says Christina Hallin.

- But we can not currently rule out crime.

Arrest negotiations

The two people were arrested just before the weekend, which means that a possible arrest hearing will probably not take place until Monday, according to Christina Hallin at the Police.

Causing the death of another is punishable by up to two years' imprisonment.

The penalty is too short for mandatory detention pending an agreement, but there are exceptions.

It is too early to say whether the detainees can be released next week, according to the police spokeswoman.

- It depends a bit on what emerges during questioning during the weekend and what the forensic investigation on the spot shows, says Christina Hallin.
