Turkish delegation to visit the US to resolve the issue of the supply of F-16 fighters

US President Joe Biden said earlier that the US should sell fighter jets to Turkey and modernize them.

“We should sell them F-16s and also upgrade these planes.

It is not in our interest not to do this,” Biden said.

He recalled that this would require congressional approval.

As previously reported by the Milliyet newspaper, Ankara has requested 40 F-16 Block 70 fighter jets and 80 Block 70 upgrade kits for Turkey's existing F-16s.

In 2019, Turkey was excluded from the F-35 fifth-generation fighter production program.

Turkish companies have participated in it since 2002 and supplied components.

Erdogan noted that the United States offered Ankara to buy F-16 fighters after it was excluded from the F-35 fighter program.
