“The Embassy sent a note to the British Foreign Office in connection with insulting statements made by representatives of the British leadership against Russia, the Russian people, the President of Russia and other Russian officials,” the diplomatic mission said in a statement.

Diplomats noted that such rhetoric from London is unacceptable and unworthy, both in form and in content.

“In Russia, it is perceived as a manifestation of deep disrespect for our country and diplomatic traditions, not to mention the free treatment of facts.

The embassy suggested that the British side take steps to rectify this negative impression,” the Russian embassy said.

Earlier, the Kremlin noted that British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace's insulting statements about Russian President Vladimir Putin cast a shadow on the United Kingdom.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also summoned British Ambassador Deborah Bronnert and handed her a strong protest in connection with the insulting statements of her country's leadership.
