Earlier it became known that Bulgaria is expelling 70 Russian diplomats and technical staff of the Russian embassy.
The diplomatic mission called this decision an absolutely unreasonable and provocative act that undermines the interaction between the two countries.
“The Russian side completely denies these accusations,” the embassy said in a statement to TASS.
The diplomatic mission added that if Bulgaria does not withdraw the relevant notes on July 1, "the question of closing the embassy" in Sofia will be immediately raised before the Russian leadership.
The head of the Russian diplomatic mission in Bulgaria, Eleonora Mitrofanova, said that the expulsion of employees of the Russian embassy is an unprecedented and absolutely unfriendly step.
