The English Theater Frankfurt is entering the new season under the hopeful motto "The Present Is Tense, The Future Perfect", whereby director Daniel Nicolai and his team do not want to hide a certain optimism: the future prospects are not perfect.

The unresolved rental situation in the Gallileo high-rise on the Gallusanlage continues to cause a certain uneasiness.

There, the English Theater is a tenant of Commerzbank, which has sold the building to the Singapore-based company CapitaLand and will leave it by the end of 2023.

The current lease of the English Theater is only valid until the end of this year and would have to be extended, but who would then be the contractual partner in this case is currently unclear.

As Nicolai says, a meeting of all three parties is planned in the near future,

where a solution is to be found.

The director is optimistic, but at the same time warns: "It would be a disaster for the city and the country if we had to leave our location here."

Maybe supernatural help will help, just like in the musical classic "Sister Act", which the English Theater wants to show in a new production by director Ewan Jones from November 12, 2022 to April 3, 2023.

The new season will open on September 16 with the play "Secret Life of Humans", which, after two cancellations due to corona, is now finally to be performed on the third attempt.

Author David Byrne directs it himself.

Two (continental) European premieres complete the program: from April 14, 2023, Moira Buffini's satire "Manor" and from June 16, 2023, the romantic comedy "Now and then" by Sean Grennan can be seen.

The award-winning ensemble Fishamble from Ireland will also be guests for two evenings, playing "Silent" on September 3rd and "Forgotten" on September 10th.
