This is the end of the NATO summit, which lasted three days in Madrid against a backdrop of war in Ukraine.

At the time of the balance sheet and the final declarations, the Atlantic Alliance has managed to make progress on the various issues that were on the agenda: the accession of Finland and Sweden, support for Ukraine, military reinforcement in eastern and southern Europe and the adoption of a new strategic concept.

The thorniest issues have been

tackled and processed

.

Twenty-five years after another summit in Madrid which saw Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic obtain the green light for their integration, this year it is

Sweden and Finland

which will be able to launch their accession process in a formal.

Turkey finally agreed to lift its veto in exchange for some quid pro quo, an issue which did not seem so easy to change, but which was finally quickly settled, to the great relief of the thirty member countries of the Alliance.

Strengthen aid to Ukraine

NATO will also step up its aid to kyiv.

This was what was expected, and even if the Ukrainian president believes that NATO could do more, the Alliance will indeed release additional military and financial means.

Above all, NATO adopted its new roadmap, its famous strategic concept, which places Russia as the most dangerous threat for the member countries of the organization, and which for the first time cites China, a nation representing "

a challenge to the interests and security of the countries of the Alliance

 ".

In addition, NATO is concerned about climate change, and will release a fund of one billion dollars in this context.

Finally, the Alliance also expresses concern about the situation in the Middle East, North Africa and the Sahel.

Terrorism is one of the priorities of NATO, which undertakes to preserve partnerships with the countries of these regions with which it is linked, and to continue its work in the field of intelligence.
