Dominic Nichols, defense and security editor of the British newspaper, The Telegraph, said in an article that Ukraine's restoration of Snake Island may be crucial to opening the way for Ukrainian grain trapped on the Odessa docks to export again.

Nichols explained that Russia's control of the island made the export of grain from Odessa almost impossible, and with the restoration of it by Ukraine, the product that will come out will alleviate the global food crisis.

The writer added that the task will not be easy, especially with the spread of Russian mines, but he mentioned that Turkey's role will be important in this regard, as it is the supervisor of the implementation of the Monroe Convention, which regulates maritime navigation in the Bosphorus Strait in times of conflict.

He said that the Turkish naval forces can contribute to paving the sea lanes and escorting civilian ships, along with other countries such as Romania and Bulgaria.

Nichols stressed that over time, it will emerge whether Russia's decision to abandon Snake Island is one of the major transformations in the ongoing war, as the island has proven to be important and decisive for both parties.

And Andrei Yermak, Director of the Ukrainian President's Office, said Thursday that the Russian forces had evacuated the Serpent Island, located on the Black Sea, after an operation he described as excellent for the Ukrainian army.

The commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valery Zalogny also said that the Ukrainian-made Budana guns played an important role in the liberation of the island, thanking foreign partners for their support.

Satellite images published by Ukrainian media showed plumes of smoke rising from Snake Island after Ukrainian shelling on it, and the Ukrainian authorities said that the bombing continued from Wednesday to Thursday.
