The Grugny nursing home (Seine-Maritime) was ordered by the Rouen administrative court to compensate a family up to 100,000 euros in March 2022, RTL revealed on Wednesday.
The establishment would indeed have been negligent vis-à-vis the father, whose health had rapidly declined from his admission in February 2017 until his death, which occurred on May 5 of the same year.
The man, who initially resided in Mont-Saint-Aignan, was suffering from Alzheimer's disease and had to be changed establishment by his family.
Then, during the visits, several of his children had noticed various shortcomings concerning hygiene.
The staff would have said in particular not to shower the resident because he was “cosy”.

Eventually, after losing 30 kg in just three months, the father died of widespread gangrene.
During the hearing, the Ehpad thus recognized its responsibility and apologized to the family.
The latter wants this decision to set a precedent so that identical cases can also lead to a conviction.
