Ukraine's President Volodimir Zelensky said today that the world now needs an "extremely brave" NATO to deal with Russia's extreme aggressiveness.

"With an extremely aggressive Kremlin,

the world needs an extremely brave Alliance,"

he said by videoconference before the leaders of the Atlantic Alliance meeting in Madrid.

Zelensky also called for modern artillery and more financial support to deal with the Russian invaders.

"We need much more modern systems, modern artillery,"

he said, adding that financial support "is no less important than arms aid."

"Russia continues to receive billions every day and spends them on the war.

We have a multimillion-dollar deficit, we don't have oil or gasoline to cover

it," Zelensky explained, adding that Ukraine needs about 5 billion dollars a month for its defense.

In addition, the Ukrainian leader called for more sanctions on Russia "that stop its ability to pay for the war."

Washington and Brussels hit Moscow with unprecedented sanctions over the invasion of Ukraine that President Vladimir Putin launched on February 24.

The United States and Canada, which are much less dependent on Russia as an energy supplier than Europe, have banned all imports of Russian oil.

The European Union, however, introduced a gradual oil embargo as part of its sanctions on Moscow.
