The population of Saudi Arabia decreased by 2.6%.. "Statistics" clarifies

The data of the Saudi General Authority for Statistics showed, on Wednesday, that the total population in the Kingdom decreased by 2.6% in the middle of 2021, compared to the middle of 2020.

A report from the authority stated: "The total population in the Kingdom reached 34.1 million people in mid-2021, which represented a decrease of 2.6 percent compared to mid-2020, when the population at that time reached 35 million."

The authority attributed this to a decrease in the number of non-Saudis by 8.6%, with many non-Saudis leaving the country, during the Corona pandemic.

At the same time, the Statistics Authority indicated that the Saudi population increased by 1.2% during the same period.

She added that males represented 56.8% of the total population, equivalent to 19.4 million individuals, while females constituted 43.2 percent of the total population, equivalent to 14.7 million females.

The proportion of males in the total population was mainly attributed to the high number of non-Saudis of working age.

She pointed out that "the gender distribution of Saudi citizens was more balanced, reaching 50.8% for males and 49.2% for females."
