The Norwegian National Security Agency (NSM) states that it is probably a "criminal pro-Russian group" that is behind the attacks.

- The attacks are aimed at a number of large Norwegian companies that offer important services to the population, says Sofie Nyström, head of the National Security Agency (NSM), in a press release.

National Police

Norwegian police also state that their website was attacked.

"Measures were implemented and police.no will function as usual," the police wrote in their press release shortly after 4 pm on Wednesday.

The media house VG is also exposed to the same kind of attacks, but the website is still accessible, VG writes in its press release just before 4 pm on Wednesday afternoon.

Security policy situation

In light of the current security policy situation in Europe, the National Security Agency (NSM) recommended that all Norwegian employers review the security of their computer systems.

This happened in May, NSM states.

- We have seen similar attacks in other countries during the same period, but none of these have had long-term consequences.

The attacks can still create insecurity in the population, and give the impression that we are a pawn in the current political situation in Europe, says Sofie Nyström.
