G7 summit ends amid criticism

Xinhua News Agency, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, June 28 (Reporter Ren Ke Huangyan) The three-day G7 summit concluded on the 28th in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, southern Germany.

The meeting was criticized by many people who believed that the G7 could not deal with global problems.

During the meeting, the participating leaders discussed the situation in Ukraine, climate change, environmental protection, economic recovery and supply chain reform, and response to the epidemic.

The G7 said it would strengthen sanctions against Russia and provide Ukraine with the necessary financial, humanitarian and military support.

The summit was met with a lot of criticism.

Some observers believe that the G7, which currently represents only 10 percent of the world's population, will not help solve global problems without cooperating with the wider international community.

Others said it remains to be seen whether the G7 will actually deliver on its promises.

During the summit, demonstrations broke out in Munich and near the conference venue. The demonstrators condemned the major western industrialized countries for worsening the situation in Ukraine and the food crisis, and complained about the recent soaring prices.

The G7 consists of the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan.

The leaders of Argentina, Senegal, South Africa, India and Indonesia were also invited to the summit.
