Biden announces the expansion of the US military presence in Europe

US President Joe Biden announced a far-reaching expansion of the US military presence in Europe.

Biden said, during an interview with the media, with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, on the sidelines of the NATO leaders summit held in Madrid, "We will work to ensure that NATO is ready to confront threats from all directions, land, air and sea."

Biden indicated plans to increase the deployment of US forces in the Baltic states, and the deployment of two squadrons of American F-35 fighters in Britain, as well as additional air defenses in Italy and Germany.

Biden also announced the establishment of a permanent headquarters for the US Army's Fifth Corps in Poland.

This announcement comes after an American decision to increase the number of American destroyers stationed in the Spanish town of Rota from four to six.
