CAIRO -

After two days of controversy over the veil in Egypt, following statements by Al-Azhar University professor Saad Al-Din Al-Hilali that it was not hypothesis, and the attack of a number of scholars and preachers on Al-Hilali, Al-Azhar officially intervened through a statement confirming the hypothesis of the veil in Islam, after a similar statement by Dar Al-Iftaa.

Al-Azhar affirmed, in its statement, that the veil of women is an individual duty on every sane adult Muslim woman, approved by the sources of Islamic legislation in the text of the Qur’an and the consensus of Muslim jurists.

Social networking sites celebrated Al-Azhar's statement, after witnessing controversy and anger at the statements of Al-Hilali, who said that the veil is not an obligation, but rather a weapon of political Islam.

Al-Hilali claimed in a television interview with the “Al-Hekaya” program on MBC Masr channel, last Sunday, that the honest jurists confirmed that covering the private parts is an obligation, and then the phrase was distorted to change from “covering the private parts” to “the veil is an obligation.” ".

The veil of women is an individual duty on every sane adult Muslim woman approved by the sources of Islamic legislation in the text of the Qur’an and the consensus of Muslim jurists, and what is being circulated from an attempt to negate the hypothesis of veiling and portraying it as a custom or custom that spread after the era of the Prophet is a personal opinion rejected by Al-Azhar;

Because it contradicts what the Muslims agreed upon 15 centuries ago

Dilute the constants of religion

Al-Azhar said in its statement - without referring to Saad al-Din - that the circulating attempt to deny the hypothesis of the veil and portray it as a custom or custom that spread after the era of the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - is a personal opinion rejected by Al-Azhar.

Because it is contrary to what Muslims agreed upon 15 centuries ago.

The statement added that this opinion opens the door to dilute religious constants, and that evading the provisions of Sharia and what the nation's scholars have settled on the pretext of freedom in understanding the text, is a corrupt scientific approach.

The Al-Azhar International Center for Fatwa also clarified in a detailed statement that the premise of the veil is fixed by the text of the Noble Qur’an, the authentic Sunnah, and the consensus of the Islamic nation from the time of our master, the Messenger of God to this day, and the rule of its hypothesis is fixed and does not accept diligence or change.

He considered that the exploitation of the tragic and reprehensible events and crimes in attacking the fundamentals of religion, defaming its postulates and directing the energy of its popular rejection to one of the laws and teachings of Islam;

It is unacceptable, a great danger and harm to the individual and society.

He refused to discuss religious issues in the media and through social networking sites in a fragmented manner, considering this a waste of the rules and principles of science;

It causes disturbance among people, harms their religious feelings, causes crises and conflicts, justifies them, and disturbs public peace.

In turn, the Egyptian Dar Al-Iftaa said that the veil is one of the rites of Islam, obedience to God Almighty, and it was imposed on Muslim women who have reached the age of commissioning;

She must cover her body, except for the face and hands.

Scholars and preachers attack

The statements of Egyptian religious institutions were preceded by the attack of a number of sheikhs and preachers on Al-Hilali, expressing their rejection of what they described as “fraud, ignorance and slander against religion.”

Sheikh Abbas Shoman, the former deputy of Al-Azhar, wrote through his Facebook account, that the veil is a firm duty like prayer, and only a misguided ignorant denies its hypothesis.

Sheikh Hisham Mahmoud Al-Azhari described Al-Hilali’s words as fraud and lies;

He explained that the speaker (Al-Hilali) knows very well that the veil is the consensus of the nation and that it is the speech of jurists and scholars.

Ahmed Abdel Azim, Professor of Hadith and Fundamentals of Religion at Al-Azhar University, considered that the weakening of the hadith indicative of the veil hypothesis was ignorance of the science of hadith.

Enlightenment people want Al-Azhar to announce that he disagrees with the jurists’ consensus on the premise of hijab with health, arguing that jurists are human beings who make mistakes and their opinion is guiding, which is a very valid argument in my opinion.

But with the same argument, Your Honor, why do you want the non-hypothesis deed from Al-Azhar, which is made up of people who are right and wrong?!

What do you do what you see right 🤷🏻 ♀️

I wish those who were writers remained since how many days that the veil appeared due to the emergence of extremist currents in Egypt and that it is not an obligation to keep a black silence that pressed their hearts because Al-Azhar pressed them with the three https://t.co/PbAVGfE7GS

Saad Al-Hilali, professor of comparative jurisprudence at Al-Azhar, says that the veil is not an obligation, and Dar Al-Iftaa responds to it.

Scholars follow the religion of their kings!!!
