Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on June 27.

A reporter asked: According to reports, the foreign minister of the Pacific island country Tuvalu decided not to attend the UN Ocean Conference in Portugal because China blocked Taiwanese members of the Tuvalu delegation from attending the conference.

What is China's comment?

Zhao Lijian: There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is a part of China. The one-China principle is the basic norm of international relations and the general consensus of the international community. It is also the fundamental principle confirmed by the UN General Assembly Resolution 2758.

The Taiwan authorities are accustomed to "little tricks" in the international arena. Their so-called "personnel" have surrendered their personalities, are willing to be the entourage of other countries, and try to squeeze into the United Nations Ocean Conference. This can only be self-inflicted.

China practices genuine multilateralism and supports all parties to participate in the United Nations Ocean Conference in accordance with laws and regulations.
