“Those in the political circles of Bulgaria are behind such decisions, they are destroying bilateral relations and doing this, of course, against the will of the Bulgarian people,” RIA Novosti quoted her as saying on the air of the Rossiya 1 TV channel.
Zakharova noted that the expulsion of Russian diplomats is contrary to the interests of the citizens of Bulgaria itself and "is something that comes from outside this country."
Earlier it became known that Bulgaria was expelling 70 Russian diplomats and technical staff of the Russian embassy.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced its readiness to respond to this decision.
