The European Commission's Directorate General for Enlargement and Neighborhood Negotiations will allocate €750,000 for the establishment of a political and legal advisory center for Montenegro.

The contract provides for support in improving the "compatibility of national legislation with EU legislation and its effective application".

In addition, the agreement will help strengthen the capacity of the relevant national structures to successfully conduct EU accession negotiations, the document says.

Senior researcher at the Center for European Studies at IMEMO RAS Vladimir Olenchenko, in an interview with RT, noted that in this way the European Union will work with the local population of Montenegro to bring its position closer to the European line.

“The EC recognizes that the Western Balkan countries have their own identity, their own culture and their own approaches to what is called European unity.

And the attempts of the EC to level it, smooth it out or put it aside did not work out.

And now the EC has come to the conclusion that it is necessary to work with the local population, take into account their national characteristics and try to combine national characteristics with the EU,” the expert emphasized.

Earlier, USAID offered up to $5 million for a fund to support media and communications organizations in the Western Balkans.
