It is good that the grueling search for a new location for the European School is finally over.

The tugging between the Frankfurt parties was only undignified.

For years they mentally pushed the school back and forth in the urban area and could not agree on any area.

The school recently threatened to leave town.

That would have been embarrassing for the city.

As the seat of the European Central Bank, Frankfurt is one of the European capitals.

With the settlement of the European institutions, the municipality has entered into contractual obligations.

This includes providing appropriate educational facilities for the children of multilingual employees.

It is a great success for the new Roman coalition that they found a consensus so quickly.

The fairground seems suitable for the European School for several reasons.

It is well connected and very close to the ECB tower.

Only: The European School would like to have more space.

It doesn't seem to be quite enough with the area and apparently also needs the space that is currently occupied by neighboring allotments.

In the end only winners?

But the school shouldn't gamble too high.

Because the city does not offer just any area, but the fairground.

That's a generous gesture.

And crowding out allotment gardens is always a tricky one.

The mood could change quickly.

Perhaps the school's builders should reconsider going a little taller instead of wider.

In the end, this development could only result in winners.

The Showmen's Association is open to a move by the Dippemess.

Because on the previous fairground, the space for the floats, rides and circus tents shrank more and more.

The Dippemess could grow again on the Rebstock car park and reach new visitors.

So the city keeps a fairground.

It is not as well connected as before and can only be reached by tram and bus.

However, there is hope that the subway will one day continue to the planned residential area at Römerhof.

Then there would also be another underground station at Festplatz.

The competition for space shows once again how tight it has become in the city.

Of course, the trade fair car park also has a function.

But it should be possible to coordinate the schedules of the fair and the showmen so that everyone gets their money's worth.
