Europe 1 Studio SEASON 2021 - 202207:00 a.m., June 28, 2022

Discover the story of Blanche de Castille, queen of France in the Middle Ages, and for many historians, the very incarnation of the figure of the cantankerous mother-in-law.

Blanche de Castille was 46 when she married her son Louis IX to Marguerite de Provence.

But since the death of her husband Louis VIII, it was she who held the kingdom with a firm hand and alone settled the conflicts of the people.

With a new queen in the equation, will Blanche de Castille give up power?

In this second part of the episode produced by Europe 1 Studio, Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach recounts the stormy cohabitation of the two women closest to the king.

In this new episode of the "At the heart of History" podcast, Clémentine Portier-Kaltenbach recounts the tense relationship between Blanche de Castille, mother of King Louis IX and queen before him, and Marguerite de Provence, the one she chose to beautiful girl.

For the newly married couple, the first years of cohabitation are difficult.

Blanche treats Marguerite harshly: she can't bear to see her spend so much time with her adored son, and tries to keep them away from each other as much as possible.

The king and queen will have to compete in ingenuity to thwart the control of Blanche de Castille and find themselves in private... This story is a Europe 1 Studio production.
