Bonhams expansion continues: the British auction house acquires French competitor Cornette de Saint Cyr.

Earlier this year, Bonhams acquired Swedish company Bukowskis.

The acquisition of the American competitor Skinner followed.

With the Danish auctioneer Bruun Rasmussen, Bonhams acquired another Scandinavian auctioneer whose business is particularly flourishing on the Internet.

Founded in 1973, the family business Cornette de Saint Cyr is one of the well-known auction houses in central France.

With its headquarters on Paris' Avenue Hoche and a branch in Brussels, the company has fifteen expertise departments.

Sales in 2021 were 35 million euros.

Bonhams just opened a branch on the Seine in September.

Managing Director Bruno Vinciguerra describes the purchase of Cornette de Saint Cyr as an "important step" in Bonhams' development into a "global player with a balanced presence in the United States, Europe and Asia".

The auction house, headquartered in London and with 37 branches, had an annual turnover of 800 million dollars in 2021.

In 2018 it was taken over by the British investment fund Empiris.

The amount Bonhams paid for its recent purchase is not disclosed.
