At least 51 killed in Colombia prison riot

  Xinhua News Agency, Caracas, June 28 (Reporter Wang Ying Xu Ye) Bogota news: A riot broke out in a prison in the southwestern Colombian city of Tulua in the early morning of the 28th and caused a serious fire, killing at least 51 people and injuring 30 others.

  Castellanos, director of Colombia's National Institute of Prisons and Prisons, told the media that the riot took place in the prison's block 8, with a total of 180 inmates.

At least 51 people were killed, many of them from smoke inhalation, as prison guards controlled the unrest when mattresses were set on fire.

Another 30 people, including prison guards, were injured.
