Multiple fires ravaged community gardens in the Morocco district of Reims (Marne) overnight from Friday to Saturday.

A complaint has been filed.

“Those who did this really wanted to harm”, denounced Boujamaa El Yousfi, member of the association responsible for the site, quoted by France 3 Grand Est.

These allotment gardens had previously been the target of theft and damage.

A previous fire

Flames had already destroyed a shed and a veranda within the 64 plots of the place.

The fire was not accidental, says Slimane Boumouara, vice-president of the Moroccan garden.

Fruits and vegetables had also disappeared and fences had been damaged in the past.

However, the damage had never been greater than after the recent fire.

Four huts worth 3,000 euros each and a water pump were reduced to ashes.

The tenants of the plots have called for help from the Town Hall to restore the site.
