Turkey is abandoning its veto against Swedish and Finnish membership of NATO.

- We have now reached an agreement between Sweden, Turkey and Finland which means that Turkey now accepts that we get an invitee status in NATO, says Magdalena Andersson and continues:

- It was a very long meeting.

Sauli Niinistö and I were able to tell about all the measures we in Sweden have taken with regard to terrorist legislation, where in recent years, and now also the first of July, we are really tightening that legislation.

Accession negotiations next week

Accession talks will be held in Brussels next week, something that will not take long, according to Foreign Minister Ann Linde, who will meet with the press together with the Prime Minister.

- The reason we were able to come forward was that all parties showed an incredible willingness to come forward and be constructive and that we made it clear that we take the concern about terrorist attacks seriously, she says.

President Erdogan's staff states that Turkey has received what it demanded in the negotiations with the Nordic countries, reports AFP, which includes "promises of concrete steps for the extradition of people accused of terrorism", writes Reuters.
