On Tuesday, June 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on celebrating July 8 as the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity.

This is stated in the document posted on the portal of legal information.

“In order to preserve traditional family values and spiritual and moral education of children and youth, I decide to establish the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity and celebrate it on July 8,” the decree says.

As noted in the text of the document, the decree comes into force from the day of its publication.

Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that supporting families is a priority for the Russian state.

So, during a big press conference, the president noted that it was necessary to demonstrate the positive aspects of family life.

According to him, happiness, the joy of fatherhood and motherhood should gradually and without any imposition from the outside take root in the minds of Russians.

“Nothing can be imposed, but you need to show all the positive aspects of a large, friendly, good, beautiful family, show what happiness it is to have children, and convince people that there is no greater happiness in the world and in life.

But this must be done with talent, brightly, subtly, with the help of the media, our artists, and public organizations.

And to support people who make the decision to have a child financially.

Let's all move in these directions together," the President of Russia said.

Earlier, the press service of the capital's registry office reported that marriages on July 8 became popular among Russians.

So, in 2022, about a thousand couples plan to get married on this day in Moscow.

“This year, many beautiful and festive dates fall on the most popular days for weddings - Fridays and Saturdays.

About a thousand couples in Moscow are planning to start a family on July 8 - the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity ... On this day, the maximum number of applications were submitted to the capital's registry offices and exit locations, ”the Moscow registry office told the Moscow city news agency.

The largest number of marriages in Moscow on July 8 will be registered at the Wedding Palace No. 1, located in a historic building, the former mansion of the merchant August Roerich: “Also, the maximum number of couples plan to get married in the Shipilovsky, Kutuzovsky and Tagansky registry offices.”

According to Yekaterina Stenyakina, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labour, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, Russia has remained the only stronghold for preserving family traditional values.

“You and I perfectly see what is happening in the countries of Europe, in the United States of America, when the concepts of “mother” and “father” disappear, “parent one” and “parent two” appear.

And only our country is very sensitive to the institution of the family and very reverently preserves traditions that are as natural as possible and on which the entire world society stands, ”Stenyakina said RT.

The parliamentarian noted that July 8 is the day of Peter and Fevronia.

“It's great that this holiday has now become a state holiday and the president signed this decree.

Our Constitution enshrined the concepts of the family, the preservation of family traditional values, so this is a very logical continuation of those amendments to the Constitution that were approved earlier,” the deputy emphasized.

The adoption of the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity at the legislative level will have a positive impact on the spread of traditional values in Russia, said Alexander Varfolomeev, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, in a conversation with RT.

“This will also contribute to a more responsible approach to raising the younger generation, respectful attitude towards parents, as well as grandparents.

Indeed, in those families where all this is present, there will be prosperity and a good quality of life.

I believe that this is done very correctly, because it will color the life of our families in everyday and emotional terms, ”he stressed.
