At least 10 people have been killed and 251 people injured in a toxic gas leak from the port of Aqaba in southern Jordan, local media including Jordan News reported.



The accident occurred when a gas tank being transported fell.



According to the CCTV recording of the accident site, a trailer loaded with gas tanks arrives at the port, and then the port crane lifts the gas tank. It spread throughout the port.



Amer al-Sartawi, a spokeswoman for the Public Safety Authority (PSD), said the gas leaked when a tank filled with toxic gas crashed during transport.



He added: "Injured people who inhaled the gas were taken to hospitals, and evacuation orders were immediately issued for beaches in the Aqaba area."
