Several offshore wind farms are planned along the west coast.

In total, there are hundreds of wind turbines, some of which will be over 300 meters high.

State-owned Vattenfall has bought the majority of owners in the planned offshore wind farms from the Norwegian company Zephyr.

Now the wind turbines will be a central part of a new investment that they want to make together with Preem: namely to produce hydrogen.

Ready in 10 years

For Preem, there is great hope of being able to use the hydrogen gas in production in order to thereby reduce their emissions at the refineries in Gothenburg and Lysekil.

A feasibility study phase is now being started and in just under 10 years it is hoped that the wind turbines will be in place, but the permit processes are complicated and there is political opposition among local politicians.
