As noted in the department to the RIA Novosti agency, this was achieved thanks to the localization of many industries and the establishment of supplies from friendly countries.

Thus, the Ministry of Industry and Trade responded to media reports about the alleged shortage of medical consumables in hospitals: shunts for medical operations, various types of prostheses, etc.

“According to Roszdravnadzor, neither Russian nor foreign manufacturers of these medical devices registered in Russia have announced their withdrawal from the Russian market.

We are actively working with our foreign colleagues, including through trade missions, we regularly receive offers for the supply of various medical devices from a number of friendly countries,” the press service said.

The ministry also noted that many of the relevant consumables are produced in Russia.

For example, there are eight organizations in the country dealing with prostheses for cardiovascular surgery, which produce 46.7% of the total number of prostheses in Russia.

“Currently, 52 registration certificates (11 organizations) for the production of medical devices for bypass surgery (17 of them are produced by domestic manufacturers) are valid in the Russian Federation,” the ministry’s press service added, noting that the production of these products in Russia following the results the first quarter of 2022 increased by 42% in value terms, and by 50% in real terms, compared with the same period in 2021.

Earlier, Alexander Petrov, a member of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, head of the Expert Council on Regulating the Circulation of Medicines and Medical Devices, spoke about measures to support the pharmaceutical industry.
