It was in September 2020 that a teacher at one of Piteå municipality's schools put an electric cable around a student's neck while his classmates watched.
After the lesson, shocked students must have contacted the school principal and the now fired teacher was suspended.
The student in turn received SEK 10,000 in compensation.
The teacher's explanation
The teacher himself has stated that he used the electric cable around his neck as part of a practical demonstration in connection with the teaching, without any previous students reacting.
The Swedish Schools Inspectorate's investigation shows that the teacher exposed the student to abusive treatment on 10 September 2020, and that the teacher repeatedly treated students in a way that made students feel exposed.
The principal of the school considers that the teacher is inappropriate in his role.

Even if the teacher has had inappropriate behavior over time, only the reported incident with the cable in the autumn of 2020 is sufficiently serious in this context, the authority emphasizes.
It is now up to the responsible committee to make a decision in the disciplinary matter.
