Queen Elizabeth II is traveling to Scotland for "Holyrood Week", a week of royal events dedicated to the Head of State.

At 96, his presence was confirmed at the last moment, due to his mobility problems.

It is the second time that the British have seen him since his jubilee in early June.

Queen Elizabeth II, 96, arrived in Scotland, UK, on ​​Monday for a week of royal events, along with several members of her family.

His move for this "week of Holyrood" was only known at the very last minute, as is now usual, due to his mobility problems.

Smiling, in a soft blue outfit and leaning on a cane, the Queen was photographed at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh, on the occasion of the "handing over of the keys" ceremony, during which the monarch is traditionally seen handing over the keys to the city and is welcomed into its "ancient and hereditary kingdom of Scotland".

Increasingly rare appearances

She was accompanied by her son Edward and his wife, Sophie.

Her last appearance dated back to June 22, when she met at Windsor Castle, where she now resides, the Governor of New South Wales in Australia.

The British celebrated for four days at the beginning of June his 70 years of reign.

She had appeared there three times on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

On the occasion of this platinum jubilee, the monarch, who is the oldest in the world in office, had reaffirmed her intention to continue to serve her subjects "to the best of (her) abilities, supported by (her) family". 

Queen Elizabeth II is more and more often represented by her son Prince Charles, 73, heir to the crown, who will also participate in various engagements this week in Scotland, as part of this week of Holyrood.
