The blue of the PP

army

has spread throughout Andalusia after the battle of 19-J, in which the socialists have suffered a

humiliating defeat

, but in which the worst part has been carried by the hosts of Ciudadanos, who have lost in every corner of Andalusia.

In all?

Nope!

In a small town in the province of Jaén called Porcuna, a handful of

irreducible

oranges

resist.

Not only that, but in this town of just over 6,000 inhabitants, not only did Juanma Moreno's Popular Party not win, but it lost to Ciudadanos.

Porcuna is, in fact, the only battlefield of 19-J in which Ciudadanos

won the

Andalusian elections held a week and a day ago, an extraordinary milestone that could be the lifeline for a party that many, even within from their own ranks, they give up for dead.

On June 19, the list of Citizens for the province of Jaén -headed by a resident of Porcuna, Enrique Moreno- obtained

33% of the votes

in this town , an incontestable victory against the 25.58% achieved by the PSOE and 25.16% of the PP, which punctured with all the letters in this corner halfway between the Cordoba and Jaén capitals.

So exceptional was the result that the state directorate of Ciudadanos headed by Inés Arrimadas has summoned the mayor of Porcuna, Miguel Moreno, to

Madrid this Monday

to try to understand why the collapse of the party in the entire community became a victory here.

The invitation to Madrid for Moreno also has a lot to do with the

new strategy that the

orange

party is going to follow

to try to survive and that the municipal elections that have to be held in May of next year could be the beginning of a recovery stage.

Sources from Ciudadanos explained to EL MUNDO that to a large extent this new strategy, which will be officially presented today, is based on

municipalism

, on looking back at the institutional power that the party still has in the municipalities to, from there, try to retain and recover the electorate that once chose their ballot.

In Andalusia, where the party has been seriously injured after 19-J, salvation now relies precisely on the

local strongholds

where the orange flag still flies and Porcuna is one of the best references.

Above all because, in addition to his town hall being in the hands of a mayor of Citizens, he resisted the blue tsunami of the PP.

“We are not dead”, they underline from the Ciudadanos headquarters, where they trust that the

refoundation

process that they are going to undertake from this Monday will allow them not only to take oxygen but even to recover positions.

refoundation

In that refoundation, the sources consulted pointed out, "Andalusia is going to have an important presence."

And next week, they added, the Arrimadas executive could already address the

replacement

of Juan Marín at the head of the party in the community, which is currently in a situation of impasse after the electoral shock.

This week, however, there have been some movements and the Secretary of State Organization, Borja González, has traveled to Andalusia to meet with his regional counterpart, Andrés Reche, and with the provincial secretaries to

"test the mood"

within the party, according to the sources consulted.

Despite everything, Madrid insists on removing drama from the situation of training in the Andalusian community and emphasizes that the campaign that has been carried out has been good and that, even, the departure of Juan Marín has been « very dignified” and with a

majority recognition

of their work.

Something more critical is the mayor of Porcuna, who believes that to a large extent the mistake, with capital letters, made by Ciudadanos in these years has been forgetting to create and strengthen a

broad

territorial structure .

He compares the party with "a giant with feet of clay and when the flood has come the mud has been undone."

Moreno assures that he has been asking for a change

in this direction for five years

, "but nobody has listened to me."

"They believed that with a speech from the balcony and from social networks the votes were obtained, but I have never believed in a

grandiose message

, but in the pick and the shovel," adds Miguel Moreno, who has been mayor for 15 years , first with the PP and since 2017 with Ciudadanos.

He points, without hesitation, to Fran Hervías, former Secretary of Organization, as the "cancer" that has dynamited the party from within.

Building the

trust of the neighbors

is, he assures, the secret of his success, knowing that "when they call me on a Sunday they will find me", says the alderman, who denies the advisers - "that is stealing money from the neighbors"- , from the official car and who has a salary that is neither very high nor very low, on average, 2,200 euros net per month.

The Cs campaign from within: "There was no illusion"

Demobilized militancy, organic and institutional positions of idle arms and

internal quarrels

.

The Ciudadanos electoral campaign for 19-J has not been a bed of roses, according to some of those who have participated, from within, and not only because of the difficulties derived from the wear of the brand and the downward trend of the party.

Above all, training sources tell EL MUNDO, the greatest complications have come from the internal division that has left the orange formation devastated in some parts of the autonomous community.

Councilors who vetoed each other in the electoral acts, party workers who refused to collaborate in the campaign and a militancy, as a consequence of all this, absolutely

demobilized

have been some of the obstacles that have been crossed in the Ciudadanos campaign .

So much so that, according to the sources consulted, in central acts of the same, such as the start of the campaign in Jerez de la Frontera, they were barely able to gather thirty militants.

The party, these sources point out, has concentrated very especially on those provinces in which they believed there was some possibility of obtaining a seat and the rest have been practically forgotten.

The effort has been concentrated in Malaga, Cádiz and Seville and, to a lesser extent, in Granada and Córdoba, but in Jaén, Almería and Huelva the

battle was considered lost

in advance and "not even mailing has been done" with the ballots.

Thus, the impression from within is that saving the furniture was an

impossible mission

.

“There was no illusion” and there was a great “feeling of being orphaned”, of “final, farewell”.

In short, a great “frustration”.
