“The accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO does not threaten us with anything particularly new.

These countries previously had relations with Russia that can be called quite respectful and mutually benevolent,” Medvedev said in an interview with the Arguments and Facts newspaper.

At the same time, he noted that Russia would have to strengthen its borders on the new land border with NATO.

According to him, the ground forces and the navy will be built up in the northern directions.

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö said that Finland is unlikely to become a NATO member before September because of Turkey.
