Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi conveyed to Tehran points from Saudi Arabia regarding bilateral talks, noting that talks with Riyadh will resume soon in Baghdad.

Khatibzadeh considered that the message conveyed by Al-Kazemi is a "step forward" in negotiations with Saudi Arabia, with which the relationship will be an important matter for the region and the Islamic world.

Yesterday, Sunday, Iran announced its support for a mutual reopening of embassies with Saudi Arabia, as its foreign minister, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, confirmed - during his meeting with Al-Kazemi in Tehran - that his country supports a mutual reopening of embassies with Saudi Arabia, and appreciates Iraq's role in promoting dialogue between the two countries.

Abdullahian considered that Baghdad is making constructive efforts to strengthen dialogue in the region, and supports the continuation of the ceasefire in Yemen and the end of the siege on it.

Al-Kazemi also said - during a joint press conference with Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi - that his country and Iran agreed to work together to calm the atmosphere in the region.

Al-Kazemi had met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah the day before yesterday, Saturday, and during the meeting they reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries and areas of joint cooperation.

According to Iraqi sources, the talks dealt with several issues, most notably ways to make progress in the negotiations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, which would lead to the full resumption of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

It is noteworthy that, in recent months, 5 rounds of talks brought together Iranian and Saudi officials in Iraq, and at the conclusion of the fifth round, which was conducted last April, Al-Kazemi said that he was convinced that "understanding is close" between the two countries.
