Dubai Municipality has launched a set of technical activities specialized in 3D printing technology, including “Construction Engineering Consultation Activity with 3D Printing Technology”, “Building Contracting Activity with 3D Printing Technology”, and “Concrete Industry Prepared for Building Technology by 3D Printing”.

The municipality is responsible for establishing and implementing an integrated system for planning, designing and implementing construction works using 3D printing, in accordance with approved engineering standards and specifications.

The Director General of the Municipality, Daoud Al-Hajri, said that the municipality is working to make Dubai a center for this activity, pointing to the work of regulating the use of this technology by regulating and encouraging it, giving support and advice to emerging companies in their field, and inviting international companies to enter this field in Dubai.

He added that "3D printing technology is one of the modern technologies, and it is developing significantly globally in many sectors, and it is supposed to contribute to reducing cost and time, which we seek to enhance through the activities developed by the municipality for the sector of consultants and contractors."

The new activities target the category of consulting offices, contractors and factories, and are concerned with facilities that use the building system with 3D printing technology, and artificial intelligence techniques in the implementation of building construction of all kinds, up to the completion stage, knowing that these activities are available to new companies, and can be added within the activities of offices and companies Existing construction and factories.

The municipality provided the possibility of applying for new activities by the owner of the company or the license holder, by creating a record for practicing engineering professions in the Dubai Engineering Qualification System on its website, choosing the name of the activity, and then linking the required engineers to it.

The municipality also provides the names of consulting offices, contractors, approved factories and construction contractors with 3D printing technology through its smart applications, in addition to its official website.

The municipality has set requirements for the qualification and classification of the issuance of a practicing permit for licensed companies.

The municipality is responsible for regulating this technology, issuing licenses and supervising construction work.

Its responsibilities also include determining tests for raw materials, industrial additives and mixtures used in construction work, and tests for structural elements of buildings according to this technology.

In addition, the municipality is supervising the establishment of a database of construction works carried out in the emirate through technology, to provide the information and data necessary to set technical specifications and standards.
