Prime Minister Kishida, who is attending the G7 Summit = Summit of the Seven Major Countries that opened in Germany, will attend the discussion on the second day.

We would like to express our support for Russia, which continues its military invasion of Ukraine, and for the Middle East and African countries affected by the food crisis.

Prime Minister Kishida, who is attending the G7 summit in Elmau, southern Germany, said at the first day's meeting that he would further protect the lives of the people of each country from rising prices due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He pointed out that cohesion should be strengthened and announced additional sanctions against Russia, such as a ban on the import of Russian gold.

Prime Minister Kishida will attend a meeting on the theme of the situation in Ukraine on the 27th of the second day, and President Zelensky of Ukraine and Secretary-General António Guterres of the United Nations will also participate online.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Kishida said that Russia's invasion was a violent act that would shake the foundations of the international order, and that the international community could deter unilateral attempts to change the status quo by showing solid solidarity. The policy is to point out that sanctions should not be lifted easily.

In addition, in the food security debate, Russia argued that the soaring food prices were due to sanctions in Europe and the United States, as well as the development of storage facilities in Ukraine, where grain exports were stagnant, and the effects of the food crisis. I would like to express food assistance to the countries of the Middle East and Africa that will receive it.
