ABU DHABI

- The drawings published by Majid magazine for children in the last May issue sparked widespread discontent on social media platforms in the UAE, as commentators considered that its drawings reinforce homosexuality.

Majid magazine is one of the most famous Arabic magazines for children between the ages of 7 and 14.

In 2009, the "Abu Dhabi Media Company" launched the Majid website to facilitate access to children throughout the Arab world.

A satellite channel affiliated with the magazine was also launched to provide content for children's cartoons, in addition to the ability to follow cartoons and animations through a smartphone application.

In its last May issue, the magazine published cartoons that were described as supportive of homosexuality, which was met with outrage by the pioneers of social media platforms.

The Media Regulation Office opens an investigation with the Abu Dhabi Media Company and directs to withdraw all publications of Majid magazine for the month of May from all markets after the magazine published a story that consolidated the concept of homosexuality in the emerging generation 🏳️ 🌈

Ride the wave

And the tweeter Abdullah Al-Nuaimi wrote, "Majid magazine is the one that taught us a lot and many of its beautiful and innocent stories, and we still remember Captain Khalfan and his assistant Fahman, purposeful stories that raised and raised generations. We were keen, racing, and traveling distances to go to the library and buy it. At that time, there were no street vendors... So did you ride?" O Majid the wave?”

On the other hand, one of the respondents believed that the colors symbolize the rainbow, which is distinguished by seven colors, while the colors of the gay flag consist of only six colors, and despite the justification, many activists considered it a slip from the magazine and will lose many readers because of it.

In a comment on its official Facebook account, the magazine responded to one of the inquiries regarding the colors of the gay flag, saying, "This story was published in the last May issue, which represents the seven colors of the spectrum found in nature."
