  Amtrak said the train involved in the accident collided with a dump truck at an intersection near Menden, Missouri, at about 1:42 p.m. local time.

  At least three people were killed after the Amtrak train derailed, including two on the train and one on a dump truck, according to Justin Dunn of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

  According to reports, the accident caused eight carriages and two locomotives to fall off the rails.

  Amtrak had earlier said there were about 243 passengers and 12 crew members on the train.
